An invitation to the Next of Kin of the men who fell during their service in the
1st Battalion, Rhodesian Light Infantry
Dear Next of Kin
The Chairman and members of the Rhodesian Light Infantry Regimental Association - Africa branch, extend an invitation to you to join us as an honoured guest to the 56th Anniversary Rhodesian Light Infantry Regimental Day Memorial Service and Parade.
On this occasion, we gather to pay homage to the men of the Rhodesian Light Infantry who gave their lives in service to their country and the Battalion, and to honour you, the Next of Kin.
The parade will be conducted at the Dickie Fritz Garden of Remembrance in front of The Trooper statue and a memorial service will be dedicated to our fallen and to their next of kin.
The key note address will be conducted by an invited Next of Kin member.
The reading of the Roll of Honour for each Commando will be read out by Next of Kin.
Commando wreaths will be laid by Next of Kin with an RLI RA member representing each Commando in the battalion.
Private wreaths and / or crosses may be laid at the base of the Trooper Statue. Crosses will be available for Next of Kin at the parade.
Venue: Dickie Fritz Shellhole, 115 Dickie Fritz Ave, Dowerglen, Edenvale, Johannesburg.
Time and Date: 11h00 on the 4th February 2017.
Dress: Regimental Association dress code, suit or jacket and tie with medals.
Seating: Next of Kin will have pre-arranged seating provided at The Trooper statue.
The parade will march on at 11h30, and guests should be seated by 11h20.
We invite you to join us after the parade, for refreshments and lunch at the Ridgeback Bar at Dickie Fritz Shellhole. During this time, we will Toast:
• The Battalion.
• The Fallen.
• The Next of Kin.

• Your (the NoK) contact details, including a mobile or landline number.
• The name and surname of your deceased loved one and the Commando he served with in the RLI.
• If you will be laying a private wreath.
• If you will be placing a cross.
• If you are willing to give an address at the parade and service, on behalf of the Next of Kin.
• If you are willing to read the Roll of Honour on behalf of the Commando your loved one served in.
Please note a Next of Kin will be selected by the committee, then invited to either a laying of a wreath, read a Roll of Honour or the give the address on behalf of the NoK.
