George Dempster - Biography
Executive Committee - George Dempster
Enlisted in the RLI as a territorial soldier - intake 150 on January 8th 1976. Posted to 1 Commando
as a trooper.
Signed as a permanent force member in June 1977 - attended MA3 (Medical Assistant class 3) course where
after promoted to CPL and posted to 3 Commando as the Medic.
Jan 1979 attended MA2 course, promoted to SGT and posted to the mobile surgical unit. Retired under the
Lancaster House agreement in April 1980.
Joined a South African based pharmaceutical company spending time in JHB and Durban before opening own
Information technology Company in 1995. George continues to run his IT company in JHB.

Shaun Ryan - Biography

I joined the RLI in Intake 150 and was posted to Support Commando. Upon leaving the Regiment I became a
prosecutor and then a magistrate. After leaving the civil service I joined a firm of IP lawyers in Pretoria
before setting up my own practice, first in Pretoria and then later on in Johannesburg I subsequently moved
to England and am now settled in Jersey Channel Islands practicing as a patent lawyer.
Mark Adams - Biography

Born in Cape Town in 1953 Mark schooled at Rondebosch Boys School. He matriculated in 1971 and represented
Western Province at Craven Week schools rugby. Called up for national service in 1972 Mark qualified as a
Physical Training Instructor. Through an agreement between the Rhodesian and South African governments at
the time Mark, along with a number of others, was recruited into the RLI. Mark was Best Recruit on Course
48 in Training Troop and was thereafter posted to 2 Commando.
Mark passed the Officer Selection Board and spent 1974 on officer training and was, on commissioning, posted
to 3 Commando. Served as Troop Commander 12 Troop 1975/8 before being posted to the School of Infantry At the
School of Infantry Mark completed a Combat Team Commander's course.
Mark was thereafter attached as course officer for a National Service cadet course and was also the course
officer for the regular Cadet course of 1979.
In 1980 he was posted to HQ 3 Brigade as GSO3 (Ops) where he saw out the transition before resigning and
returning to South Africa.
Mark owns and runs his own security business based in Durban, KZN.
